Join us at the fabulous Stephens House & Gardens to celebrate VE Day in the gardens!
Gardens Open until 20.00
Did you know that thousands of people came to the Gardens to celebrate Victory in 1945?
Come along and help us recreate this photo at 18.00 (Gardens open until 20.00)
The Finchley Society will have their wartime treasures on display from 13.00 & Café and Beer Tent will be open and there will be music from 40's close harmony Trio Fox Wiggle and Sass

Thursday 8th May 2025 - VE Party
Great Maplestead Village Hall, CO9 2RE
You may remember we were all geared up to play here for the 75th anniversary, but COVID had other plans…So join us for the 80th because it will be double the fun!
The evening will be themed as a 1940s VE party, with guests encouraged to dress in the appropriate style. The night will incorporate a break for beacon lighting at 9.30pm in co-ordination with national events. The beacon will be positioned in the village hall car park, so we do not have far to walk in heels!
Guests will be invited to arrive at 7pm, at which time a cash bar will be in operation.
Food for the evening will be fish and chips and there will be vegan and gluten free options available too.
Food will be served from 7.15pm/7.30pm.
